Problems with music

This wont be a very long post, just problems that ive noticed as an artist and what you can do to help others if you want to support us.

One of the biggest problems I’m currently facing, is the fact that music doesn’t pay. Unless you have a major label backing you, it’s hard to get your footing, and every online forum that I read, they make it sound so easy, but it’s not. After months of advertising, I finally reached 1000 followers on Spotify, but they’re not all that active, which is perfectly fine; everyone has their own lives after all. I just find it interesting that even when running ads and gaining followers, the daily streams still tend to be pretty low, almost as if there hasn’t been any change at all. Almost as if I’m throwing shit at the wall and hopping it sticks, but either mine stinks, or there’s some other type of factor involved that I’m unaware of. I currently don’t want to go around asking for donations, I am prideful like many other artists, nor do I want to shut down the production and call it quits, I love making music, it’s one of my passions. Unfortunately, I can’t use it as a major source of income, and the chances of me quitting my daytime job to peruse it doesn’t seem logical or even feasible. I think the best option to support your favorite artists is to buy merch, donate, and putting that bitch on repeat, but unless that artist utilizes those funds correctly towards advertising and other means, I don’t think it sustainable. I plan to keep on making music, but I definitely feel dead in the water regardless of how much I paddle with my straw. So instead, I’m also going to go into a different line of business. While working for a company is full and all, I am still tired of making someone else’s pocket heavy while I bust my ass and break my back.
